Research and technical institute of the National Metrology Service of Ukraine 
(Institute № 1)

The Institute:

• performs, summarizes and coordinates R & D works in metrology;
• provides informational, scientific-methodical and organizational support of conformity assessment works of measuring instruments, takes part in performance of conformity assessment works and recording results;
• carries out the technical support of OIML National Secretariat. Prepares projects and organizes the signing of bilateral agreements on cooperation in the field of metrology with the National Metrology Institutes of other countries, provides their implementation;
• maintains information funds (registers) of SE “UKRMETRTESTSTANDART” metrological works (information base of certificates issued as a result of conformity assessment work of measuring instruments, verification methods, measurement procedures, metrology recommendations, register of calibration procedures, register of business entities those measurement capabilities are recognized etc.);
• provides methodical support of the activities of metrological services of the central executive authorities, enterprises and organizations;
• performs complex works of acceptance and issue of measuring instruments which are calibrated or verified in SE "UKRMETRTESTSTANDART";
• organizes and conducts evaluation of measurement management systems (MMSs) and recognition of measurement capabilities of business entities on a voluntary base for documenting that their divisions performing measurement have an efficient MMS that combines the main requirements of DSTU ISO 10012 and the Law of Ukraine "On Metrology and Metrological Activity", technically competent and capable of obtaining reliable measurement results, characteristics of errors or uncertainty which are known.

The Institute includes:

• Research and technical department of Legal Metrology (department № 15);
• Research-methodical and organizational department for conformity assessment of measuring instruments (department № 28);
• Organizational and methodical department for providing metrological works (department № 41);
• Research and technical department of international cooperation in the sphere of metrology (department № 43).
