SE “UKRMETRTESTSTANDART” as the National Metrology Institute

On 19 August 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution № 1055, which designated the State Enterprise “Ukrmetrteststandart” as the National Metrology Institute (NMI) responsible for the creation, improvement, preservation and application of national measurement standards and for ensuring metrological traceability to the International System of Units (SI).

An NMI is responsible for developing and maintaining national measurement standards and disseminating SI units. International recognition of national standards and associated measurement capabilities is supported through participation in international comparisons under the CIPM MRA.

The establishment of Ukraine’s single NMI creates the basis for coordinated national metrology policy, implementation of the “one voice policy” in international representation, preservation of the national reference system, and systematic support for metrological traceability throughout the Ukrainian economy.

It is also important for maintaining confidence in Ukrainian calibration and testing laboratories, conformity assessment bodies, and the national quality infrastructure as a whole, while strengthening the scientific and professional capacity of Ukrainian metrology.

The recognition of a single NMI is therefore a strategic step toward harmonizing Ukraine’s metrology infrastructure with global and European practices and strengthening Ukraine’s integration into international scientific, research and regulatory cooperation.
