UKRMETRTESTSTANDART Participates in the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium
From 6 to 8 October 2026, Poland hosted the 4th RADWAG Metrology Symposium, “The Latest Technological Solutions in Mass Metrology.”
The event took place at RADWAG’s facilities in Radom and the Świętokrzyskie Laboratory Campus of the Central Office of Measures (GUM) in Kielce.
RADWAG is an internationally recognised manufacturer of precision and industrial weighing equipment.
SE “UKRMETRTESTSTANDART” was represented by Serhii Tsiporenko, Head of the Scientific and Production Department for Mass Measurements.
Held under the honorary patronage of leading metrology and research institutions, including the Emirates Metrology Institute (EMI), the Central Office of Measures of Poland (GUM), the Czech Metrology Institute (ČMI), TÜBİTAK UME and the University of Warsaw, the symposium brought together experts from national metrology institutes, academia and industry.
This year’s programme focused on technological advances shaping the future of mass metrology, with particular emphasis on automation, robotics, digitalisation and artificial intelligence in measurement and quality management.
The symposium explored three main areas:
The evolving role of commercial calibration laboratories and the adoption of advanced technologies. High-precision measurements at national metrology institutes. The transfer of emerging metrological technologies into scientific and industrial applications. The programme featured more than 20 hours of presentations, technical sessions and professional discussions.
Speakers included representatives of leading national metrology institutes, such as NPL, PTB, NIST, GUM, ČMI, TÜBİTAK UME and EMI, alongside researchers from Polish universities and RADWAG specialists.
Key topics included:
International cooperation in advanced weighing technologies. Accreditation systems and the international role of the Polish Centre for Accreditation (PCA). Integrated software solutions for measurement laboratory workflow management. Applications of artificial intelligence in metrology. Ensuring metrological traceability of mass standards using advanced measuring instruments. Advances in Kibble balance technology, including developments in watt balances. The structure, activities and strategic development of the Emirates Metrology Institute (EMI). The EU Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) in relation to the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) and the Non-Automatic Weighing Instruments Directive (NAWID). Digitalisation of mass metrology at TÜBİTAK UME. Realisation of the SI unit of mass, the kilogram, based on fundamental physical constants. Findings from the first comparison of tabletop Kibble balances and their implications for measurement accuracy. The symposium also featured practical technical sessions showcasing recent developments in measurement technology.
Participants were introduced to robotic calibration systems, automated environmental monitoring solutions, multichannel pipetting and automated pipette calibration systems, as well as advanced weighing modules for industrial applications.
The symposium highlighted how digital technologies, automation and robotics are transforming high-precision mass measurements, while international cooperation continues to play a vital role in advancing metrology.
Participation in international scientific and technical events enables SE “UKRMETRTESTSTANDART” to exchange expertise, engage with emerging metrological technologies and strengthen Ukraine’s professional ties with the international metrology community.
