On 20-21 November, the SE "UKRMETRTESTSTANDART" held a training session "Legal and technical aspects of the activities of metrological services, verification, testing and calibration laboratories". The workshop was attended by metrology specialists from organisations and enterprises of Ukraine. PhD Yurii KUZMENKO, Deputy Director General for Metrology, Conformity Assessment of Measuring Instruments and Scientific Activities, welcomed the participants of the training session. PhD Yurii KUZMENKO noted that, despite the difficult situation in the country, the exchange of experience and knowledge is an important element for the full functioning of metrological services, verification, testing and calibration laboratories of enterprises and organisations. At the training session, leading experts from the Research and Technical Institute of the National Metrological Service of Ukraine (Institute № 1) of SE "UKRMETRTESTSTANDART", presented informative reports on the announced topics:
- PhD Igor POTOTSKYI, Director of the Institute: Legal metrology. The Law of Ukraine ‘On Metrology and Metrological Activities’ and other legal acts on metrology. Legal units of measurement. Scope of legal metrology. Legal measuring instruments. Conformity assessment and verification of legal measuring instruments. Obligations of legal measuring instrument holders. Choice of calibration interval of equipment;
- PhD, Docent Victoriia SHVEDOVA, Senior Researcher of the General and Legal Metrology Department: Types of measuring instruments. Metrological characteristics of measuring instruments. Errors of measuring instruments. Statistical properties of measurement errors. Uncertainty of measurement, its application and forms of presentation. Ensuring the necessary accuracy of measurement methods and results;
- Liubov NESVIDOMINA, Head of the General and Legal Metrology Department: National Metrology Service of Ukraine. Main features. Voluntary sphere of metrological activity. Calibration of measuring instruments. The importance of calibration of measuring instruments for ensuring the competence of testing laboratories and the international recognition of company results. Metrological traceability and its components. Accreditation of testing laboratories according to DSTU EN ISO/IEC 17025. Requirements for test equipment.
The participants thanked the speakers for their informative presentations and noted the usefulness of such events. Participants received personalised Certificates based on the results of the training seminar.
